Volumes are storage locations in a Laserfiche repository for the TIFF images, text files and e files, as well as thumbnail images and word location data. For backup reasons, it makes sense to regulate the size of volumes in order to ensure that they fit on your backup media. That’s why past versions of Laserfiche have included a size-based rollover option for logical volumes. But in Laserfiche 8.2, you’ll also have the option to set logical volume rollover based on a time schedule. As the user education team puts it:
In Laserfiche 8.2 you can configure when a logical volume will roll over based on a time schedule (daily, weekly, monthly). Unlike size-based rollover volumes—that roll over and create new physical volumes based on a size limit—time-based rollover volumes focus more on storing and organizing data for a specific time period.
For instance, a local charity devotes each month to a different cause and wants to create a new physical volume per month/cause. This means all documents scanned in October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, would be stored on their own volume, separate from the documents scanned in November, AIDS Awareness Month.
For instructions on configuring time-based volume rollover, read the rest of the Tech Tip.
If you think you know Laserfiche security, this is your chance to prove it. This week, the Certified Professionals Program (CPP) gets a new addition: Advanced Security. The newest certification course covers security configuration to address unique needs, highlights best practices, and addresses network security considerations that relate to Laserfiche. We recommend that you take the Administrator 1 certification before taking Advanced Security.

Start using Laserfiche yesterday. Every day that you hesitate using it is one more day of inefficiency.
Plan accordingly. If you are uncomfortable engineering workflows, hire Laserfiche or work with your reseller. They will guide you effectively to a quicker solution.
Stick with it. Give yourself 60 days to get your sea legs. Once you are there, you will have fully integrated Laserfiche into your business processes and will be very comfortable with it.
Adoption is through your assistants. Reps like Laserfiche, but assistants love it. Get them to buy in and they will drag the reps along with them.
Be flexible. We rolled Laserfiche out as Version 1.0, then Version 2.0. The second version added some additional workflows and in between this upgrade, we made smaller modifications at the recommendation of the assistants. You have to be willing to adjust and listen to good ideas from the field.
