The Laserfiche Toolkit is a powerful software development kit that extends your enterprise content management capabilities by allowing you to develop custom solutions that leverage the power of your Laserfiche repository.

The Toolkit allows your organization to more effectively put content to use by integrating Laserfiche with third party applications. Custom solutions can be created using any language with COM support, which means Web sites, scripts, Windows applications, or anything else compatible with COM libraries, including all .NET languages, can easily communicate with the Laserfiche Server. The Toolkit comes with detailed documentation that includes tutorials and sample source code in C# and Visual Basic .NET.

To promote fast distribution, the Toolkit also includes pre-built merge modules, which can be used to create installation packages that contain both your custom code and the relevant Toolkit components. The Laserfiche Code Library offers software developers a chance to collaborate online by sharing their Toolkit scripts and applications. New Toolkit users can view the available source code in the library to familiarize themselves with the API, or even to extend another developer’s work.

Basic Functionality

  • Interface with all components of a Laserfiche Server through more than 150 classes.
  • Write applications that streamline bulk import and export operations.
  • Take advantage of pre-built merge modules to easily distribute needed Laserfiche components with your custom applications.
  • Interact directly with the Laserfiche Server to automate a variety of functions, including creating folders, running security reports, and populating template fields.
  • Provide Laserfiche Client functionality to third-party applications, such as import and export actions, process documents using OCR, and extract text from electronic documents.
  • Open the Client from third-party applications directly to specific screens, dialog boxes, and/or search results.

  • Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008.

Support Platforms

  • 32-bit assemblies are available for all operating systems.
  • 64-bit version of LFSO is available.
  • .NET assemblies run natively on both 32-bit or 64-bit machines.

Custom solutions can be created using any language with COM support, which includes all .NET languages.

What's New in Laserfiche 8.1
Laserfiche Client and Server 8.1 include many new features to help you manage your documents more efficiently and administer your repository in new and powerful ways. These features include LDAP support, a new Preview Pane in the Folder Browser, new Annotation and Electronic File Panes in the Document Viewer, an expanded Recycle Bin, Rio and Avante features, and the all-new capture tool PhotoDocs. This white paper provides a brief overview of the important new features in Laserfiche 8.1.

Laserfiche 8.1 Released
Laserfiche 8.1 builds on the enhancements of Laserfiche 8.0 by expanding both its client-side and its administrative features. The new Server adds expanded support for Laserfiche Rio and Avante, as well as allowing administrators to add LDAP accounts, such as Novell, to their repository. In addition, the recycle bin has been expanded to include deleted pages and electronic files, and a new, more flexible pane layout has been included in the Document Viewer. Laserfiche 8.1 also introduces PhotoDocs, a new capture tool that allows users to import images from a digital camera, process them for clean, usable OCR, and import them as documents to the repository. This installation includes the Laserfiche Server, Client, Scanning, Snapshot, PhotoDocs, E-Mail Plug-In, Audit Trail, Records Management and the Database Migration Utility. All Regional Training events, with the exception of the User Workshop, are held from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily. Registration and continental breakfast is available from 8:30AM to 9:00AM. Lunch is from 12:00PM to 1:00PM.
