Businesses constantly generate documents that must be readily accessible. These documents come from a variety of sources, including multifunctional peripherals (MFPs). Without Import Agent, there’s a risk that these documents will be misfiled and template fields will not be populated correctly. Documents will be more difficult to find as a result. Import Agent maximizes document accessibility by automating document importing and document management within the Laserfiche repository.

Laserfiche Import Agent Knows…

  • Where to look for documents
Import Agent looks for documents wherever they are created and sends those documents to a Laserfiche folder. For example, an MFP captures documents and stores them in a file folder on a network. Import Agent automatically looks for documents in that network file folder and moves them to the Laserfiche repository.
  • How to organize your documents
Configurable document filters in Import Agent organize documents into folders based on filename, document type or a combination of these. For example, Import Agent provides the capability of importing TIFF images from a network folder into the Laserfiche repository. Moreover, Import Agent auto-populates the template fields of the imported TIFF image.
  • How to minimize network traffic
An automated schedule efficiently archives documents in the Laserfiche repository. Schedules represent the time during which Import Agent actively looks for documents in specific directories, thereby minimizing network traffic during peak hours. For example, a remote office in a wide area network (WAN) could configure Import Agent to send captured documents over the WAN to the Laserfiche repository during off-peak hours. Scheduling document transmittal in this manner conserves network bandwidth.

Promote Efficient Document Management

Import Agent designates a destination folder for captured documents. The destination folder does not have to exist in the Laserfiche repository prior to importing the document; if the destination folder does not exist, it will be automatically created. Moreover, Import Agent can name captured documents using the original file name. Import Agent can also automatically assign template field data to captured documents.
