Bolt Script is an application developed by Bolt Document Management that combines the power of ICR (intelligent character recognition) and cursive handwriting recognition. Utilizing Bolt Script can enable automated data recognition, extraction and entry as well as enabling document identification, indexing, routing, naming, processing and more for content management systems. Compared to manual ‘read and hand key’ processes Bolt Script can substantially increase the efficiency of working with hand written forms and documents.

Bolt Script employs world leading technology to add cursive recognition capabilities to a powerful suite of ICR, OCR, IWR, and MICR recognition engines. The result is an application that can be tailored to a wide variety of uses such as forms, permit and application processing, payment and check processing, mail processing, research, etc. Typical users of this technology include government, healthcare and insurance, banking and finance, manufacturing and distribution, education, and more.

Bolt Script goes beyond simple character recognition with the use of intelligent word recognition. By focusing on recognizing strings of characters (rather than just single characters) the ‘probability factor’ of recognition is increased significantly, making cursive written word recognition possible in many applications. Comparing word strings with ‘dictionary’ files (lists of known strings or words) also raises recognition rates. Dictionary files can be industry specific such as medical terms, names, addresses, or whatever words or values are expected in the metadata. For example, a county might use a data table containing resident names and addresses to enable intelligent word recognition while processing applications. Names and/or addresses that do not validate against the table during processing (called exceptions) would be flagged for eye confirmation and/or correction later. Confidence threshold settings in Bolt Script can be adjusted for the specific application.

Bolt Script can store and load customized process profiles. These profiles allow Bolt Script to be tailored to any number of specific documents and forms by selecting the desired profile prior to running. Project analysis and custom profile design services are available from Bolt or authorized Bolt resellers to ensure the optimal accuracy and performance of your Bolt Script application.

The value of Bolt Script is achieved by reducing (not eliminating) hand key entry. 100% accuracy is not possible or expected in this type of processing. Bolt Script includes a component designed to optimize manual validation and correction after recognition processing has been completed. Bolt Script licensing is designed to be flexible and practical for projects ranging from small to full enterprise in scale. As one might expect the value and return on investment associated with Bolt Script will increase with higher volumes of documents.

The Bolt Script application consists of three components – the recognition module, the license loader (hardware dongle), and the validation module. Single and multiple server recognition modules are available and can process documents from any number of sources. License loaders are available in a variety of volume and performance levels to accommodate a wide variety of applications. The validation module can be installed and run on any number of stations across the network.

Bolt Script is designed to significantly reduce the amount of manual hand keying required when processing documents containing handwritten information. Bolt Script can be tailored to accommodate a wide variety of documents and individual client needs. Bolt Script runs as a stand-alone application with a native Laserfiche integration that does not require Quickfields or Import Agent. In addition it can create a delimited import table for use with other applications. Bolt Bridge is capture independent to allow the use of any capture equipment, software or processes.

The Bolt Script integration with Laserfiche processes external batches of document images and releases them (along with extracted metadata) directly into the repository in a seamless operation. Tokens allow extracted metadata from Bolt Script to be imported directly to Laserfiche template (index) fields, document names and folders. Bolt Script can also process documents and forms that already exist in the Laserfiche repository by simply defining a Laserfiche search text before processing.

Bolt Script uses customized process profiles to store and recall specific projects allowing it to accommodate a wide variety of documents and forms. It can also enhance intelligent word recognition (IWR) with a dictionary feature using industry specific word libraries and/or database lists.
