Using Laserfiche
Designed for beginning and intermediate users, this course teaches you practical strategies for using Laserfiche more effectively. Specifically, you’ll learn the best methods of organizing, indexing and locating documents in your Laserfiche system, and you’ll develop an in-depth understanding of the tools you can use to add documents and other files to your repository.
Folder/Document Browser
The Laserfiche Folder Browser is the first thing users see when they log in to the system. In this section of the course, you’ll learn how to customize the Browser so that it shows the information that’s most relevant to you. You’ll also learn how to use shortcuts to quickly locate documents, how to efficiently work with documents in the Browser and how to use links and versions to organize documents according to their relationship with each other.
Indexing and Template Design
Templates are a critical component of a well-designed repository. This section of the course covers best practices in template design and helps you use document metadata more effectively. You’ll also learn how to make the best use of the system’s metadata management tools, such as field-level security and field constraints.
Search and Retrieval
Laserfiche includes comprehensive search tools that help you quickly locate a document using any piece of information you have. In this section, you’ll learn how to use each of these tools, how to customize searches to best meet your needs and how to save your search results for reporting purposes.
Import and Export
Laserfiche provides you with multiple methods of capturing documents and distributing the documents that are stored in your repository. This section will teach you best practices for capturing, indexing and filing documents, and how to export documents in a variety of formats.
Snapshot
Snapshot enables you to quickly save files to your Laserfiche repository from Windows applications. This section will teach you how to use Snapshot’s various features and how to configure Snapshot to best meet your needs.
Scanning Interface
Laserfiche utilizes an intuitive scanning interface that works with a wide variety of scanners and multi-functional peripherals. In this section, you’ll learn how to fully utilize this interface and its comprehensive image clean-up tools. This section also provides you with an overview of the “basic” version of the interface, which has fewer options and is designed for users who only scan documents on an ad hoc basis.
Quick Fields
Quick Fields is a powerful tool that enables you to automatically extract data from scanned documents. This section will compare Quick Fields to Laserfiche Scanning, provide a quick demonstration of the product, and cover the core tools that come with Quick Fields.
Administering Laserfiche
Designed for intermediate and advanced users, this course teaches you how to best configure and maintain your Laserfiche system. The first part of the course provides you with a detailed overview of the Laserfiche architecture and explains how the different Laserfiche components communicate with each other. The second part of the course builds on this foundation by teaching you effective strategies for installing, configuring and maintaining your system, troubleshooting problems and backing up your information.
Laserfiche Architecture and Installation
Laserfiche utilizes an n-tier architecture that provides a great deal of flexibility during implementation. In this part of the course, you’ll develop an in-depth understanding of this architecture and learn how to design or modify your system in order to ensure optimal performance. You’ll then learn each of the tasks associated with installing Laserfiche software, including the process for creating and registering repositories.
Administration Console
The Laserfiche Administration Console provides you with access to a variety of tools for configuring your system. This section teaches you how to make the best use of these tools, which enable you to create users and groups, configure templates, create volumes and define document relationships.
Security
Laserfiche provides you with a number of security features so that you can control access to the information in your repository. In this section, you’ll learn how to design and implement a comprehensive security policy that makes the best use of the tools Laserfiche offers.
