FEATURES

Web Integration

GeoDoc is a web-based integration which allows anyone in the organization with permission to search for, select and view documents through the GeoDoc interface.

GeoDoc leverages Laserfiche security to authenticate users and provide permission to document files.

Environment

Since GeoDoc functions independently, no changes to the ESRI or Laserfiche environments are necessary.

When an ArcIMS website is GeoDoc enabled, users can visit the original ArcIMS website as-is or visit the GeoDoc enabled ArcIMS website where the GeoDoc toolbar will be displayed within the graphical user interface.

The GeoDoc tool bar provides the users with the tools necessary to locate, retrieve and view the documents stored within Laserfiche.

Versatile Search Capabilities

When searching for and retrieving documents, GeoDoc provides users the following options:

  • By interacting directly with the map display
i.e., select features by point click or rubber banding)
  • By a location search
(i.e., select all features lying within the city boundaries of Anytown, USA)
  • By buffer search
(i.e., select all features within a specified proximity of a point or boundary such as Anytown, USA)
  • By feature attribute
(i.e., select all features within a layer where attribute value is equal to “Main Street”)
  • By document index
(i.e., select all features tied to documents with specified metadata)
  • By text string or phrase
(i.e., select all features tied to document content with the referenced text)
  • A combination of a GIS- and document-based search option described above

Administration Console

GeoDoc features an administrator’s console which guides the user through the necessary steps to link spatial features in ArcIMS to documents that are stored within a Laserfiche repository.

Preferences managed within the Administrative Console include console permissions, linkages between ArcIMS and Laserfiche repositories, Web client URLs, tool bar position and tool bar commands.

Multi-Layer Support

Unlimited linkages between ArcIMS layers and Laserfiche documents can be created providing single-search capability across multiple layers and document repositories.

Bi-directional Functionality

For Laserfiche WebLink users, unique bi-directional functionality provides readily available analysis of spatial relationships involving documents, template data, and feature location.

DESCRIPTION

GeoDoc™ is a revolutionary web-based software that seamlessly integrates the GIS functionality of ESRI© ArcIMS™ and the document management capabilities of Laserfiche and Laserfiche WebLink™.

Once installed, the GeoDoc interface enables the user to search for and access documents from within a map interface and obtain spatial information from within their document management program. The software’s bi-directional functionality allows users the ability to select a document within Laserfiche WebLink to view the geographic location of the linked feature through an ArcIMS website.

A typical GeoDoc™ user scenario could include city engineering and public works personnel easily retrieving CAD drawings, blueprints, and building permits by simply identifying the subject parcel in an interactive map display.

Another user scenario could involve law enforcement personnel conducting an analysis of traffic safety. In this example, listings of incident reports assigned to an intersection or location would be obtained by simply highlighting selected areas within a digitized map of the study area.

GeoDoc is ideal for public sector applications involving planning, engineering, capital improvements, law enforcement, education, and utility asset management. Private sector applications include real estate, community development, and professional services.
