Sharon.Chai@laserfiche.comLONG BEACH, CA - Laserfiche president/CEO Nien-Ling Wacker told industry experts at the Association of Information and Image Management meeting in New York City to expect dramatic ways to use business information thanks to new capture technologies being pioneered by her company and others.
Ms. Wacker, who served as keynote speaker on an educational track exploring information capture, said evolving technologies are enabling the extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) of business data so that it can be repurposed in useful ways. A new product released by Laserfiche called Quick Fields is in demand to increase the speed and efficiency in capturing data during forms processing.
“Some areas of technology remain ‘hot’ these days due to their proven value, and that especially applies to capture products,” Ms. Wacker said. “Document management systems that allow repurposing, while at the same time sharing information across the enterprise and complying with various federal regulations including HIPPA, Sarbanes-Oxley, SEC and FDIC, are “business essentials” in many U.S. offices.
Ms. Wacker, most recent recipient of AIIM’s Pioneer Award and a former board member, also recalled the period 10-15 years ago when high storage costs kept most government and business organizations from digital archiving of documents. Now, storage is cheaper than toilet paper, making adoption an easy choice.
She said new capture technologies could make accounting records transformable by marketing departments into business intelligence never before available. Some records, she predicted, will most likely become valuable in the future, using as yet undiscovered technology.
Laserfiche has grown at the average rate of 35% per year in the period 1998-2002. Last summer, it was honored by Deloitte Touche with a Fast 50 technology growth award. The company dominates the municipal government market and has made major inroads in the securities, banking, health care and federal government markets in recent years.
Laserfiche (www.Laserfiche.com) is a division of Compulink Management Center, Inc. in Long Beach, CA.
