Office space is a major expense for most businesses. So, consider reducing your space requirements by 20 percent and at the same time, improving your operations. That’s the net result of a decision made earlier this year by SCS Engineers, an international environmental firm headquartered in Long Beach, CA.

SCS Engineers was founded in 1970, the same year the federal Environmental Protection Agency was created. SCS Engineers is an award-winning engineering and construction company specializing in environmental services and solid waste management.

“We’ve been in business for 33 years and laws require us to retain virtually all of our client files permanently,” said David Ross, senior vice president. “The space requirements were becoming overwhelming and finding archived information we needed was time-consuming and often frustrating. We were seeking a modern solution to a long-term filing challenge.”

SCS Engineers decided to digitize its corporate records with Laserfiche Document Imaging. The new system will ultimately enable the 400-person corporate staff to access three to five million documents from 35 offices scattered around the globe. While saving the company thousands of dollars in rent, Laserfiche allows the collaborative SCS team to scan, index, search and retrieve mission-critical files like contracts, work reports, and maps.

The SCS installation is being managed by AMI (American MicroImaging, Inc.) a Laserfiche reseller based in Los Angeles. Allen Adjamian, AMI business development manager, worked closely with SCS Engineers throughout a highly detailed conversion process.

“ SCS needs to access critical information instantly from any location, and that data must also comply with federal and state requirements,” Adjamian said. “Laserfiche is great for locating specific information in seconds with its powerful and intelligent search engine, but it is also proving itself compliant with exacting government regulations. This is a powerful combination for firms which are in highly regulated industries such as engineering, financial services and health care, to name just a few.”

The SCS system includes the core Laserfiche Document Imaging product, WebAccess, which instantly publishes documents to the web without HTML coding. Laserfiche Plus creates royalty-free CDs for mobile access to records while serving as a comprehensive disaster recovery tool.

Laserfiche (www.Laserfiche.com) is a division of Compulink Management Center, Inc. in Long Beach, CA. Since 1987 Laserfiche has been helping manage documents in over 20,000 government agencies, schools, law offices, financial services companies and other businesses worldwide.

Founded in 1968, AMI (www.amipaperless.com) offers clients a competitive advantage by providing access to any document, anytime, anywhere. A full scale service bureau is available for clients’ business process outsourcing needs, as well as a system integration & consulting team for in-house solutions.
