Sharon.Chai@laserfiche.comLONG BEACH, CA. - Iraq’s new government has chosen Laserfiche software to handle digital records management and distribution between the interim Iraqi government and Iraqi embassies around the world. Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but the software installation is to begin immediately and the records repository, including diplomatic files and visa applications, will expand rapidly.
The interim Iraqi government, which assumed full authority at the end of June, selected Laserfiche for its immediate ability to create a secure Internet-based global record repository available to its official representatives in world capitals. Iraq’s embassies, many of which closed after the collapse of Saddam Hussein’s rule, are expected to re-open soon after the new government is installed.
“Instant communication between the interim Iraqi government and embassies in world capitals is critical and will be made possible with Laserfiche,” said Chris Wacker, the company’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Laserfiche software is quick to implement, meaning a variety of digital information will be accessible to each Iraqi embassy as quickly as it opens.”
Laserfiche distributor BmB Group of Beirut, Lebanon, will begin installing Laserfiche software in Baghdad and establishing a central record archive in Arabic, according to Laserfiche International Sales Director Gonzalo Bonifaz. Iraq’s seven embassies – located in Austria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, France and the United States – will have instant access to the records. Additional embassies will be added as they reopen.
“Direct access, security and scalability are of paramount importance to the Iraqis as they return representative government to their citizens,” said Nizar Ghannam, regional manager of BmB’s Document Imaging Division. “Laserfiche’s international reputation for fast installation and dependability make it the best solution for the new government’s needs.”
