Laserfiche 8 has been reworked to make it easy to install and customize, especially at the enterprise level. The Laserfiche 8 Server runs over the HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol) framework, which is much more firewall-friendly, and delivers better network performance. In addition, Web Access 8™ supports Microsoft Internet Explorer® 6 and above, as well as Mozilla® Firefox® 2.x, so staff can contribute to business processes in a variety of operating environments.

Workflow activities and a simple workflow.

Laserfiche has always excelled at information storage and retrieval. Laserfiche 8 pushes the Laserfiche platform to new levels of power, functionality and value by using information to automate and accelerate business processes. Workflow also makes business processes more manageable, providing you with a singular location from which to monitor and refine your organization’s operations.

The all-new Quick Search bar.

Laserfiche 8 delivers faster, more intuitive searching, thanks to an upgraded search engine and redesigned search interface. A Quick Search™ bar, similar to the search bar in your Web browser, appears at the top of every window (or, in Web Access, every page). In the traditional search pane, you can refine your query to search across templates, fields, annotations or document pages.

Classify and organize documents more easily.

Laserfiche 8 offers many new field options.

New metadata options in Laserfiche 8 promise to redefine the way you label and organize documents. Multi-value fields help you simplify your organization’s document hierarchy and search more easily, while independent fields enable you to add metadata without applying a template.

Copying folder structures.

Laserfiche 8’s interface promotes instant familiarity, faster user adoption and fewer training requirements by incorporating features and design cues from Windows. You can copy entire folder structures, with or without content, as easily as you can copy a single document. And a much-requested Recycle Bin allows users and administrators the opportunity to review and restore deleted items before they are permanently purged.

Communicate more clearly with co-workers.

Improved annotation security options.

Laserfiche 8’s improved annotation functionality greatly facilitates collaboration and makes it easier to communicate throughout a document’s life cycle. You can annotate a Laserfiche document exactly like you would a PDF. New annotation styles include underline and strikethrough text; freehand drawing tools; text and callout boxes; and native-format file attachments. You can set annotations as protected or private, as well as track changes to sticky notes using the Sticky Note History tab.
