For MCCi, one of the most important measures of success each year is the extent to which they’ve helped each of their nearly 400 local government clients get better at managing their records. “Everything else falls into place from there,” says Donny Barstow, the firm’s president.
“It could be a small town or a large county, an existing installation or a new one. The goal is to have each customer take at least one step forward every year.”
In some cases, that means motivating a municipal clerk’s office to find new ways to use its Laserfiche system. At the other end of the spectrum, it can mean developing and deploying an enterprise Laserfiche solution utilizing the Web, automated records and agenda management tools, and interdepartmental workflows.
This approach to customer service has been a key element in MCCi’s continuing success as a Laserfiche VAR. For this reason, it’s no surprise that MCCi began its operations as a division of Municipal Code Corporation, the leading codifier for local governments in the US and a company noted for top-quality customer service since its founding in 1951.
Municipal Code became a Laserfiche reseller in 1998 as a part of a diversification initiative. In 2001, the success of the new venture led to the formation of MCCi as a separate subsidiary, with its own sales and support staff. MCCi first qualified for the Laserfiche Winners Circle in 2003 and has done so every year since. Last year, MCCi was also one of five Laserfiche resellers to surpass $1 million in sales of Laserfiche products and services.
The firm is on track for another strong performance this year, even as the weakened US economy starts to impact local governments’ tax revenue. “We’re fortunate to have a strong and supportive group of customers who believe in the value of their Laserfiche solutions and see Laserfiche as an important asset in their efforts to do more with less,” Barstow explains. “The Laserfiche Records Management Edition and the redesigned Laserfiche Workflow module stand out as excellent examples of how local governments can realize a strong return on their investment in new technology.”

MCCi’s Donny Barstow, left, with his father, Dale, a Municipal Code Corporation sales executive who was instrumental in establishing Laserfiche as a new venture for the firm.
MCCi will strive for continued rapid growth as a source of innovative document management solutions and excellent customer service, while continuing to work almost exclusively with local governments. “If there’s a secret to our success, it’s that we’ve focused on trying to become experts in one sector,” says Barstow. “This has enabled us to be sensitive to governments’ changing needs and to respond quickly with workable solutions.”
MCCi is based in Tallahassee, FL. In addition to Barstow, the firm’s management team includes Dan Pineau, vice president of sales, Doug McNease, IT director, and Christie Davis, operations manager.
