nts-logoWhen Phil Downard and two associates founded National Technology Solutions, Inc. (NTS) in 2006, the question of which document management solution to represent had long since been decided.

“I became a believer in Laserfiche while working as an IT solutions consultant to copier companies,” he says. “The main challenge was to get sales personnel to broaden their thinking to be more software solutions-oriented, which is not an easy task. I learned quickly that the quality and usability of the software was going to be critical to NTS success.”

“Laserfiche stood head and shoulders above other top-of-class document management applications being used, so it was no great leap for NTS to use Laserfiche, for it best represents what we strive to be as a company—the source of the best possible technical solutions,” remarks Downard.

From the start, NTS was quick to build a solid customer base for their Laserfiche solutions, including: local governments, commercial organizations and financial services companies. For the first time in just their second full year as a VAR, NTS is well on track for qualifying for the Laserfiche Winners Circle.

A good example of why NTS is doing so well is their work with Phoenix-based Suntec Concrete, the leading company of its kind in Arizona. “The first step for us was to conduct an analysis of Suntec’s document related needs,” says Downard. “They started with a small solution, but already had ideas as to how it could grow to fill other needs. Proving itself yet again, Laserfiche brought Quick Fields on line to streamline business processes, such as equipment rental management and Workflow to make it easier to keep track of projects and employee deployments. The Laserfiche solution has developed from a way to store documents more efficiently into an integral part of their day-to-day operations.”

The growing number of referrals that NTS has received from Suntec and other customers has been perhaps the most gratifying aspect of their work. “That’s another major reason why we feel we made the right decision in becoming a Laserfiche VAR,” Downard explains. “Referrals are an indication that the product can sell itself. That’s a great thing when you know, as surely as we do, that it’s going to fulfill their expectations.”

Looking ahead, NTS plans to focus a good portion of their energies on working with existing customers to expand their solutions, especially through integration with other software applications, and establishing workflows. “Our goal is to help the customer get maximum value from technology investments,” Downard says.

Based in Tuscon, AZ, the NTS management team includes: Debbie Dillon, CFO, Mike Dillon, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, in addition to Downard, who serves as the firm’s IT Director.
