Minnesota Laserfiche User Group Gets Off to a Big Start

Did you know that Minnesota is home to a new Laserfiche User Group? Toyia Arvin, EDMS business analyst for Ramsey County, MN, and co-leader of the new Minnesota User Group, started plans after attending the 2010 Laserfiche Institute Conference in January and meeting with Hampton Roads User Group leader Alondo McClees.

“We knew we didn’t want it to be a ‘Ramsey County’ or a ‘government’ group, but a way to network and share ideas with other communities,” Arvin says. “Alondo provided us with numerous ideas, but the key one was: keep it simple! You want everyone to get something out of the group, from beginning Laserfiche users to advanced ones.”

So far, the Minnesota User Group has had two successful meetings, and Arvin and co-leader Rochelle Waldoch are planning to hold meetings every other month. Arvin reports that because some attendees drive 90 minutes to attend meetings, the group is looking into incorporating Webinar meetings in addition to onsite meetings. “Whether people attend our bi-monthly meetings regularly or come just to network, I hope that they make contacts to share information,” Arvin says. “We have users just beginning their implementations, and so many of us have already been down that road and have many lessons learned to share.”

Arvin says that for users interested in starting their own user group, there are plenty of resources available, including the new Laserfiche User Group in a Bag, which includes a handy guide. “Between that, and Alondo’s presentation—which is available on the Support Site—you can get almost any question you have answered,” she says. “So far, it’s been wonderful to meet all the people in Minnesota who are using Laserfiche and learn how they’re using it. But we hope more people will join us!”

The Minnesota User Group will meet next on September 8 from 10:00AM-12:00PM. If you’re interested in joining the Minnesota User Group, contact Toyia at toyia.arvin@CO.RAMSEY.MN.US or join the Minnesota Laserfiche User Group on LinkedIn.
