10 Real Cost-Cutting Technologies For 2009

Document Management solution providers show that by spending a little now on the right technologies, customers will actually save down the road and gain a competitive edge over their rivals to boot.

Print and imaging VARs that aren’t raising their game to master document management are not only missing out on a key aspect of the “total solution” but also ignoring one of the most important cost-cutting technologies for today’s office. That’s probably why big players like Xerox, HP, Ricoh and Oki Data Americas have been fine-tuning their offerings and why mavens like Laserfiche and eCopy and newcomers like GoScan are attracting VARs left and right. “We had a very successful year with Laserfiche and, going forward, we are heavily focused on [their] value, particularly with regard to process automation,” said Kevin Smith, senior vice president of One Source Document Solutions Inc., a Greensboro, N.C., solution provider. One Source used Laserfiche technology to help Iredell Memorial Hospital save $40,000 per month in write-offs from misplaced records.

Laserfiche Technology Supports FSA Treating Customers Fairly Rules

The article reports that Laserfiche is offering technology and know-how to help independent financial planners and investment advisers in the United Kingdom meet the requirements of the Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) initiative mandated by the United Kingdom’s (U.K.’s) Financial Services Authority (FSA). Laserfiche’s recent initiatives to enhance regulatory compliance through technology among independent financial advisory (IFA) firms in the United States (U.S.) will serve as a platform for its efforts in the U.K. At the heart of both U.K. and U.S. regulatory schemes is the requirement for IFAs to be able to document their processes and workflows to show compliance. Historically, this has been a manual process, burdening IFAs with increasing costs. Now, however, with advanced document management technology from Laserfiche customized for the business operations of IFAs, meeting regulatory mandates is streamlined and made easy.

Plenty of Choices for Buyers in ECM’s Mid-Market

Analyst Alan Pelz-Sharpe says Laserfiche is an ECM vendor they have been watching and writing about for a while and their coverage of Laserfiche in The ECM Suites Report is set to extend this year as they evaluate their new Rio offering. He says that to some it may seem crazy for a mid-tier vendor like Laserfiche to expand their offerings in the wake of SharePoint, as there is a popular myth that SharePoint has all but finished off the ECM mid-tier. But a close look at the Rio offering shows us that there is thankfully no lack of innovation or useful products to compare, contrast, and chose among.
