National Labs, Albuquerque, NM
Founded in 1945, the
mission of Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, is "to
enhance the security, prosperity, and well-being of the nation."
Since 1996, that mission has included close cooperation with the Russian
National Institutes in Moscow regarding safety-related information on
plane
crashes and nuclear studies.
As a key part of the
program, Russian engineers deliver hundreds of authorized documents to
their Sandia counterparts twice each year. Handling
this information had been a very daunting task, requiring endless hours
of review and archiving on both ends, until Laserfiche entered the picture.
Sandia made the Russian National Institutes a user of its Laserfiche system,
enabling them to scan and briefcase documents offline and pass them instantly
to Sandia via a security-controlled section of its Website powered by
Laserfiche WebLink.
Sandia software engineer Mike Krawczyk says Laserfiche has cut staff time for the Russian project in half and, in particular, has made it possible for the Russians to do most of the work on their end.
