Cruise Control for Document Indexing

The Bar-code plug-in reads bar-codes for automatic separation of batch scanned documents. Then documents will be placed in assigned folders and assigned index field templates. Index field templates can be populated from external databases or preassigned data, for less manual data entry.

With the ability to read the 7 most commonly used bar-code types, both vertically and horizontally, the Laserfiche Bar-Code Plug-in is the simple answer to getting the most out of bar-coding.

Then, information can be associated with each bar-code, allowing automatic population of template fields from other databases, or based on a Bar-Code Association File.

The Bar-Code Association File can designate to what folders scans are sorted, as well as template information used to extract individual document information.

Bar-Code Recognition

The Laserfiche Bar-Code Plug-in helps in the scanning process by automatically breaking up large groups of documents. Bar-coding saves valuable time while maximizing the number of documents that can be processed daily.

How to use the Bar-Code Plug-in

Initially, the bar-code recognition process needs to be configured. Once it’s in place, simply place the barcode stickers on the first page of each document or on page separator sheets. Scan in the documents as a batch and presto! Documents are separated and can be automatically assigned template data or placed in the appropriate folder. No more separating batching manually - let the Laserfiche Bar-Code Plug-in guide documents to their appropriate place.

Bar-Code Recognition Highlights

  • Automatically fill in index field data using compatible databases (Access 2.0, Paradox, dBase, Foxpro 2.0, Foxpro 2.6).
  • Read seven different bar-code types (CODE 39, CODE 128, UPC A, UPC E, Interleaved 2 of 5, EAN 8, EAN 13).
  • Read bar-codes both horizontally and vertically.
