Thoroughly integrate document management with your system infrastructure.

Laserfiche 8 utilizes more Microsoft® architecture to open up new possibilities for customization and expansion, as well as to simplify integration into business processes.

  • Workflow 8 incorporates the Microsoft .NET 3.0 framework for greater interoperability with other line-of-business applications.
  • The .NET framework bridges the gap between Laserfiche and other applications, simplifying system migration and expansion.
  • Enhanced Microsoft Active Directory® integration streamlines administration by enabling administrators to assign access rights to Windows® accounts.
  • It’s no longer necessary to create a separate Laserfiche group that corresponds with a Windows group—which is especially beneficial for large-scale installations.
  • After creating and customizing a user or group in Windows, its security levels can be further configured in Laserfiche.

Support enterprise-wide communication with HTTP.

Laserfiche 8 has been reworked to make it easy to install and customize, especially at the enterprise level. The Laserfiche 8 Server runs over the HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol) framework, with support for WebDAV, which is a set of document authoring and versioning extensions to HTTP.

  • The HTTP framework is much more firewall-friendly, and, because it requires less bandwidth for computers to communicate with one another, delivers better performance over your WAN (wide area network).
  • Simplify configuration and promote easier communication between departments and offices.
  • Every component of the Laserfiche platform is more user-friendly, though Workflow 8 in particular is markedly more flexible and easier to use.

Achieve cross-platform compatibility and support diverse working environments.

Laserfiche 8 has been designed to facilitate enterprise-wide collaboration. Users working in varied operating systems can all access, share and work with the same documents.

  • Web Access 8 supports Microsoft Internet Explorer® 6 and above, as well as Mozilla® Firefox® 2.x, so staff can contribute to business processes in a variety of operating systems.
  • 64-bit platform support delivers better performance and greater scalability. The 64-bit Laserfiche 8 Server is compatible with 32-bit clients.
  • Laserfiche 8 supports Windows Vista®, so you don’t have to worry about inheriting new administrative problems when you upgrade.

Monitor system activity and implement more rigorous security.

To further help you enforce operational standards and give you more oversight of business processes, access rights controlling page deletion, page creation and page movement have been added. And new privileges for administering stamps, tags and entry links have been added to provide more fine-grained control over the distribution of administrative tasks.

Laserfiche 8 also introduces a Recycle Bin, so you can review and restore deleted items before permanently purging them.

  • Files in the Recycle Bin are shown or hidden depending on the user’s access rights; users can view and restore the documents that they have deleted, while privileged users can view and restore all documents.
  • Restoring a document will restore all of its metadata, including tags and security settings.
  • The Recycle Bin is similar to the Windows version, with one major exception—the Laserfiche Recycle Bin is network-wide rather than limited to one workstation.
