Organization Profile

Chesterfield County, located in central Virginia, is home to over 250,000 residents.  In May of 2004, Chesterfield was named the "17th Best Place to Live in America" by the American City Business Journals.

Situation

Already home to a successful Laserfiche installation, in 2005 Chesterfield County migrated to Laserfiche Records Management Edition (RME) in order to keep up with changing state records retention requirements.  The challenge was creating a new records management model while retaining its familiar user interface, established folder structure and complex security measures.

Solution

With the help of their solutions provider, Chesterfield County used a custom application to copy its records and existing folder structure into RME.  Combining RME with Laserfiche Workflow, Chesterfield staff manage document retention schedules, using shared folders to maintain the established security model.
