Profiles

Profiles allow administrators to configure multiple login methods per repository.

For example, you have a folder inside your repository that contains 10 documents and another organization wants to view these documents without having to remember and enter a username and password. You can create a generic user account with appropriate rights to view the documents, and add a profile to the repository that uses this generic account. Navigate to the folder containing these documents and add the profile name to the URL in the appropriate location. Copy the URL and send it to the outside organization. This allows them to directly access that specific folder through the configured profile without having to log in to the repository each time.

To create a profile

  1. Open the Web Access Configuration Page (http://machinename/laserfiche8/Configuration/Configuration.aspx, where machinename is the name of the server where Web Access is installed).
  2. Select Add Profile next to the repository you want to add a profile to.
  3. In the Add Profile dialog box, type a profile name. Under Connection Type, select Auto-login with specified Laserfiche account to associate the profile with a Laserfiche or LDAP account and enter the Laserfiche or LDAP username and password. Select Auto-login using integrated Windows authentication to associate the profile with a Windows account.Click OK.
  4. Open Web Access (http://machinename/laserfiche8).
  5. Select Use Profile, select the profile you want to use from the drop-down menu, and click Login.
  6. For the example above, you would navigate to the folder containing the 10 documents.
  7. In the URL, after the repository name, add “&profile=” followed by the profile name.
  8. Copy and send the URL to the organization. When they click it, they will automatically be taken to the folder containing the 10 documents without being prompted for a user name or password to log in. Keep in mind that they will be restricted to the security configured for the account associated with the profile.
