Laserfiche Empower 2020 is now underway in Long Beach, CA. We’re having a great time catching up with attendees, learning from industry experts, and enjoying some of the exciting new activities at the conference this year.

Here are some of our highlights from Tuesday, February 11, or Laserfiche Empower 2020: Day 1.

Women In Tech Summit

This year, Laserfiche hosted its inaugural Women In Tech Summit, a series of informative sessions and networking opportunities designed to further connect, inspire and educate women in technology. Attendees from all backgrounds attended the summit, and learned from talented and innovative female leaders across industries and job roles.
The summit consisted of four unique sessions focused on a variety of challenges and experiences faced by women working in the tech industry.

In “Change Driver or Midwife? Strategies for Effecting Sustainable Change”, Chief Engagement Officer of Working Harmony Lorraine Aguilar led attendees through a series of exercises designed to assist women in tech in their efforts to initiate and achieve lasting, positive change in their organizations. Some valuable insight from this session: “Endings, and letting go of dying initiatives, can be just as valuable as beginnings”.

“Women with Impact: Overcoming Challenges and Getting Results” featured a panel of female techies across industries, who spoke to their experiences breaking boundaries in the technology field and shared tips to support one another as we meet and surpass organizational challenges. Presenters included Sarah Wefald, Technical Product Manager for Laserfiche, Duana Kindle, Managing Director of Human Resources for Frisco Independent School District, and Haylee Glasscock, Laserfiche Administrator for Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. One key takeaway from the panelists:

“Prepare today for where you want to be tomorrow…and remember, what got you there today doesn’t mean it will keep you there. You have to innovate.”

“There’s more than one path to success”. We were fortunate to have City of Long Beach Director of Technology and Innovation, Lea Eriksen, and Chief Innovation Officer, Tracy Colunga, lead a special session at the summit titled “Beyond Traditional Roles: Integrating Technology, Leadership and Innovation”. These female leaders shared their experiences working in nontraditional roles to further opportunities for personal and organizational growth, while serving citizens and constituents better through innovative tech.

Last but not least, we were pleased to feature “Building Your Personal Brand: Market Yourself To Build Relationships and Get Things Done” as part of the Women In Tech Summit. Laserfiche Customer Experience Director Melissa Henley shared powerful tools and techniques for business professionals of any background to develop their personal brand to achieve success across the workplace and in personal endeavors.

Empowered Networking

Day 1 of the conference kicked off a week of networking and building relationships with fellow tech enthusiasts at the conference. We enjoyed the Empower Game Zone during the day, and visited the local watering holes in downtown Long Beach by night. Experienced Empower attendees know: one of the greatest benefits of the conference is the lasting connections made with fellow Laserfiche users!

All Empower attendees were also invited to our inaugural MotivateHer Mixer, a fun-filled networking event connecting women in tech (and their supportive colleagues) to build camaraderie and encourage the exchange of ideas between female tech professionals. We were pleased to see so many talented and empowered conference goers developing positive connections through this event!

More to Come

Day 2 of Empower 2020 will be another exciting opportunity for learning, networking and challenging ourselves to be visionaries in our organizations. We look forward to enjoying it with the Laserfiche community!
