Laserfiche International Ltd., a leading global provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software, has received the 2017/2018 Caring Company Award from the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. The designation recognizes outstanding organizations that demonstrate corporate social responsibility through caring for the community, their employees and the environment.

Supporting philanthropic efforts has been a part of Laserfiche’s core values since it was founded in 1987, and the company recently formalized its corporate social responsibility program as #LaserficheCares. The program strives to empower people, organizations and communities through initiatives that focus on diversity and inclusion, the environment and supporting the next generation.

Educating and empowering today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders is just one area of focus for #LaserficheCares. In alignment with this initiative, Laserfiche partnered with Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups in 2018 to host two STEM-based workshops for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Students ages 12-18 were guided by Laserfiche employees as they built electronic cardboard circuits and solar tracking devices.

“This was a great opportunity for children to explore the exciting world of STEM,” said Tang. “Technology can be intimidating if you aren’t introduced to it in a fun and interactive way. Creating these educational moments can be life changing for children, and it has been rewarding for Laserfiche employees to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives.”

The Hong Kong Council of Social Service has over 470 agency members and provides quality social welfare services through their 3,000 operating units in Hong Kong. The organization aims to identify critical social issues and recommend appropriate policies to the government for healthy social change. It also mobilizes cross-sector interactions to promote care, social responsibility and philanthropy culture in Hong Kong.
