Denton, TX, Wins National Honors For City-Wide Laserfiche Project

April 22, 2004 LONG BEACH, CA – The City of Denton, Texas has been selected for a second national technology award for its enterprise wide Laserfiche-based document management project.

The latest honor is the 2004 Solutions Winner in the telecommunications category from the Public Technology Institute, Inc. (PTI), a nonprofit technology research and development organization representing local governments from headquarters in Washington, DC.

“Denton is a leader among local governments that use technology to increase revenues, improve service to their community, save tax dollars, or improve management,” said Thom McCloud, PTI’s COO and Executive Director. “Their Laserfiche project is a great example of maximizing the investment on technology for the community’s benefit.”

The award will be presented at the PTI Congress of Public Technologists April 28-30 in San Antonio, TX. Denton’s Laserfiche project will be profiled in “2004 Top Technology Solutions,” a special PTI publication summarizing the best entries in this years Solutions Awards program. It will be sent to local government leaders nationwide.

“Providing instant access to records and expanding on-line services are among Denton’s top technology priorities,” said Alex Pettit, the city’s Director of Information Technology. “Our Laserfiche project has just grown from department to department, giving city staff intuitive technology tools to do their jobs faster and better.”

Last year, Denton won the “Best of Texas” award from the Center for Digital Government for “Most Innovative Use of Technology, Laserfiche Application.” Laserfiche Winners Circle value-added reseller VP Imaging of Lubbock, TX, supports Denton’s Laserfiche operations.

“It’s exciting to see cities like Denton run smarter with Laserfiche,” said Nien-Ling Wacker, Laserfiche CEO. “We’re proud of Cody and Nadine Bettis of VP Imaging for helping Denton implement such a mission-critical application of Laserfiche.”
