LONG BEACH, CA (Laserfiche)—January 12, 2010—Laserfiche today announced the winners of its annual Run Smarter Awards program, including the City of Norfolk, VA. Each year, Laserfiche recognizes organizations that have been successful in solving their most pressing information management challenges through innovative use of Laserfiche technology.

Norfolk began using Laserfiche back in 2000. Since then, it has realized many benefits including the standardization of its metadata; enhanced, citizen-centered service delivery; and greater efficiency.

In 2007, W. Alondo McClees, leader of the technology systems team for the Norfolk Commissioner of Revenue, co-founded a statewide Laserfiche user group in order to share ideas, expertise and experience regarding Laserfiche enterprise content management (ECM) solutions.

McClees appreciates learning from his fellow user group members, as well as the ease of support of the software itself: “We’re in an industry with a steadily decreasing workforce. Government IT people are retiring and they’re not immediately being replaced due to budgetary constraints. So it’s really important that we don’t have to spend 50% of our time looking over our shoulders at an application. I never have to worry about Laserfiche, and that’s critical to me.”

Other 2010 Run Smarter winners include: Cambridge Financial Group; California’s Central Contra Costa Sanitary District; Collin County, TX; Spindletop MHMR Services; LaPorte County, IN; Los Angeles County Office of Education; Minnesota’s Elk River Police Department; RMS; State of Guerrero, Mexico; Texas A&M University; and the Texas Medical Board.
