Laserfiche and eCopy Announce Integrated Software
3 min read
LONG BEACH, Calif., and NASHUA, N.H., – Laserfiche®, a provider of document management solutions, and eCopy™, Inc., a provider of solutions that integrate paper documents into enterprise software applications, today introduced the Laserfiche Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP. The new software application enables office teams to collaborate more effectively and intelligently by using a network-attached copier or scanner to add paper documents to their Laserfiche-supported electronic business processes.
“After having used eCopy and Laserfiche separately, I am very excited about the benefits of the Connector,” said Anise H. Valure, administrator, Long Law Firm, L.L.P. “The easy to use touch screen at the digital copier displays a very similar screen to the Laserfiche desktop client, making it easy for our staff to scan images directly into Laserfiche. This eliminates bottlenecks created by trying to scan all of our documents using standalone desktop scanners.”
The Laserfiche Connector integrates eCopy document scanning and distribution software with Laserfiche document management software, making it easy to add, index, and route paper documents directly to a folder in a Laserfiche repository. Laserfiche software addresses the basic problem of finding stored information by drastically simplifying the filing process and providing a means to rapidly search, retrieve, and share all documents contained within the system. eCopy ShareScan OPTM software transforms digital copiers and scanners into information hubs by enabling any office worker to easily scan hardcopy documents directly into the electronic workflows of critical business processes.
The Connector maintains document security by reflecting unique user permissions at the copier to protect against unauthorized use. The software also provides a comprehensive audit trail, which is a critical requirement for organizations that store sensitive Sarbanes-Oxley compliance information or other sensitive information in their Laserfiche Document Management System.
The Laserfiche Connector uses native application programming interfaces (APIs), transforming eCopy ShareScan OP into a client of the Laserfiche server at the copier or scanner. As a result, set up and administration is as simple and fast as it is with any other Laserfiche user on the customer’s network, helping to keep demands on scarce IT resources to a minimum.
“The ‘completeness’ of each record is critical to maximizing the business value of a document management system,” said Nien-Ling Wacker, founder and CEO of Laserfiche. “Effective document management involves gathering all vital components of each document or file quickly and accurately. Laserfiche software has already helped thousands of organizations streamline the way their records are processed and stored. By seamlessly integrating eCopy technology with Laserfiche, the information gathering process becomes even more efficient.”
According to Edward Schmid, president and CEO at eCopy, “This new Laserfiche Connector demonstrates the value of the eCopy Software Developer’s Kit. With our SDK, independent software vendors can focus their attention on providing application value and not on imaging technology and integrating multiple MFP products with their applications. It provides a fast, efficient method for creating an MFP scanning solution for their customers.”
The Laserfiche Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP supports Canon, HP, Ricoh, Sharp, and Toshiba digital copiers and all TWAIN supported document scanners. It is currently available and was developed by Software Connections, an eCopy and Laserfiche partner. The Connector is available through Laserfiche’s worldwide distribution channel and Software Connections. For more information, please contact Laserfiche at info@laserfiche.com.
